Pedal Power for a Smoothie Sprint Finish

Volunteers Ready for Action

On Saturday 4 August 2012, Metrocentre shoppers were invited to make their own fruit smoothies whilst sprinting down the London 2012 Olympic Mall on a bike to raise funds for Calvert Trust Kielder.

The specialist bike is fitted with a blender to make the delicious drinks and was hooked up to a laptop and plasma TV provided by Curry's/PC World, to simulate the mall sprint.  Members of the public were soon lining up to take part in the 350m sprint to register the fastest time.

The overall champion was Rusty the Metrognome who took time out of his busy show schedule to make his very own smoothie.  Rusty completed the sprint in an incredible 32 seconds.
