Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

Chef Sets Great Pace And Sparks Another Charity Drive For Lake District Calvert Trust

Sports conditioning from the excellent therapy and sports injury team at Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel, Bowness-on-Windermere, seems to have inspired a remarkable athletic performance from the hotel’s head chef, Rob Taylor.

Rob competed in the Bristol half marathon on September 30, to raise money for local Lakes’ charity, The Calvert Trust, and turned in an unexpected time of 1 hour 39 minutes and 28 seconds, way above his expectations.

This has enabled him to raise a total of £125 from justgiving, plus £406.50 from Lindeth Howe, making his grand charity total £531.50.

Rob’s donation is not the only money that will be raised for the Calvert Trust by Lindeth Howe this year.  On November 5, its spectacular and renowned Bonfire Night Event, will also be run in aid of the Trust.  Tickets for this event are already on sale and can be bought for a cost of £13 per adult and £7 per child, by calling 015394 45759. This price covers both delicious hot and traditional Bonfire Night food, including a home-baked pie with black peas and red cabbage, and an incredible fireworks display.

Lindeth Howe’s hotel general manager, Alison Magee-Barker, says: “We are very proud of Rob’s efforts and his performance, which we put down to his excellent preparation here, as well as his own grit and determination.  He has raised a significant sum for a charity that challenges disability through organising outdoor adventure in the Lake District.  We hope that our Bonfire Night event will swell this total even more and enable us to really make a difference to the lives of some of the individuals who work with the Calvert Trust’s team”.
