Kielder says thanks for tree mendous help

20ft Christmas Tree

Calvert Trust Kielder has said a big thank you to a Tyneside hotel for their support by gifting a festive Christmas tree.

Calvert Trust Kielder erected the 20ft Christmas tree in the turning circle at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead in time for a special seasonal fundraising event entitled, ‘An Essence of Christmas’ where clients, guests and suppliers enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine and were entertained by music and carol singing from 1st Windy Nook and 1st Wallsend Girls Brigade. Steven and Karen from Metro Radio launched the event by switching on the Calvert Trust Kielder Christmas Tree lights.

More than £300 was raised for the Trust as revellers enjoyed an evening of food, entertainment, fun and games, and a range of Christmas stalls for those last minute Christmas gifts.

As part of the iconic Hilton Worldwide hotel group, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead has, since opening in 2004, enjoyed links with the local community and charities in the region.

Martin Robinson, General Manager, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead said:

“At Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, we have always recognised the importance of supporting the local community in and around the North East to help young people fulfil their potential.

I have seen at first-hand the fantastic work Calvert Trust Kielder does and the difference their services make to the lives of young people and adults in our local area.  We would like to say a huge thank you to Calvert Trust Kielder, Elveden Estates and Egger UK Ltd who arranged the magnificent 20ft Christmas tree.  We are delighted to continue to support Calvert Trust Kielder; it is a great honour for me and my team and we are very proud of our association with this great charity.”

In addition to the funds raised from the event, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead will be donating all of the money collected from their water fountain in December to Calvert Trust Kielder, and have committed to sponsoring the drinks reception at The Calvert Ball in 2013.

Hazel Ditchburn, Corporate & Events Fundraiser, Calvert Trust Kielder said:

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Martin and his team for their continued support of our work with disabled children and adults.   We rely on support from local businesses such as Hilton Newcastle Gateshead to help us to continue to provide our often life changing service.”
