New Outdoor Classroom Opens at Lake District Centre

The Lake District Calvert Trust has just opened its all-new outdoor classroom to visitors and already the custom built structure has proved one of the most popular outdoor spaces on the Little Crosthwaite site.

The new classroom not only provides a welcome shelter from the sometimes inclement Cumbrian weather but will also provide space for outdoor activities, educational projects and a great space for social gatherings.

One of the first groups to use the new outdoor classroom were recent Calvert Trust visitors, a group from Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland.

"What a great new facility. The classroom is a beautiful structure and really complements the outdoor space on site. We have had some great weather this week and used it to keep out of the baking sun, but knowing the British weather, I'm sure it will be equally useful for keeping out of the rain too!"

The construction of the new outdoor classroom was made possible by support, donations and grants from the Keswick Lions, Peoples Postcode Trust and Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust. Our thanks go out to all those people who have helped to make the new outdoor classroom a possibility.
