Guests Get Hooked on Ducks at The Calvert Ball

Guests attending a charity Ball last Friday were invited to Hook-a-Duck to win fabulous prizes and raise cash for Calvert Trust Kielder.

The Calvert Ball, was held at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Friday 11 October and during the evening glasses were raised for Calvert Trust Kielder’s CEO, Peter Cockerill who is celebrating 25 years of service to the charity.

Joe McElderry at The Calvert BallAfter the Grand Auction and Prize Draw, special guest Joe McElderry stole the show with a surprise performance of his new single followed by his own cheeky rendition of Daft Punks – Get Lucky, which had guests on the dance floor.  He then brought the house down with Nessun Dorma, which received a well deserved standing ovation.

Over £25,000 was raised for the centre.  Corporate and Events Fundraiser, Hazel Ditchburn, was extremely pleased with the amount raised on the night, she said:

“I am thrilled and delighted with the support that we received for The Calvert Ball, we wouldn’t have been able to raise such a fantastic sum without the loyal support and help that we receive from local businesses.  I would like to say a special thank you to this year’s sponsors TLW Solicitors, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, Perro, Robson Print, Quantum Pharmaceutical, Pansy Potters and Garth Thompson Wealth Management.”
