Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

Quantum Quacker Conquers Kilimanjaro

Quantum Pharmaceutical’s duck soared to new heights last week by conquering Kilimanjaro.

Kilimanjaro Summit

The duck was accompanied by six intrepid adventurers who were on a mission to summit Africa’s highest mountain and raise substantial funds for Calvert Trust Kielder.

A year ago, brothers Jamie and Ben Squire with friends, Richard Fleeshman, Kit Muir, Carl Lennon and Olly Crocker, set themselves the challenge of taking on Kilimanjaro for Calvert Trust Kielder.  After many months of preparation, training and fundraising they have done it and have returned after the experience of a lifetime.

Ben Squire said:

“This challenge was immense, it was extremely tough but we were determined to reach the summit and show Quantum the duck, the view from the top...

The overwhelming sense of achievement and knowing we were representing the Trust, made every step worthwhile.”

Quantum the Duck in CampThe team first became acquainted with Quantum the Duck when they attended The Calvert Ball back in October where the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of unlicensed medicines and special obtain products, Quantum Pharmaceutical, sponsored the hook-a-duck fundraiser.

Peter Tomlinson, CSR Manager, Quantum Pharmaceutical said:

“We had a fantastic time at The Calvert Ball and the hook-a-duck was brilliant.  We are thrilled that Quantum the Duck has continued his journey and made it to the top of Kilimanjaro.  Massive congratulations to the team for such an amazing achievement."

Hazel Ditchburn, Corporate & Events Fundraiser said:

“The lads have raised over £20,000 for the Trust, this is an incredible achievement and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of their hard work.”
