Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

Big expansion underway

A digger moves earth on the side of a hill with other builders around. The lake district's hills and tress are in the background.

We are excited to let you know that we finally 'pressed the button' on the digger, and turned the first earth on our new £1.9 million, state-of-the-art, first-of-its-kind water centre on Monday, 30th November 2009. As you may be aware, the water centre forms the showcase centrepiece of our £3.8 million Extending Equal Chance Appeal, which aims to provide a vast array of new and improved facilities for people with disabilities - for those in our local community, for those who visit us to take part in our life-changing outdoor activity courses, and for the many thousands more whom we can reach all over the UK through our innovative Outreach Programme.

Keep an eye on this space - we hope soon to be able to bring you web-cam images of the buildling work as it progresses!. We still need £1 million to complete this fantastic Appeal, so please get fundraising for us! Call us at the Centre if you need sponsorship forms or information about on-line donations. We have lots of exciting events and happenings planned this year, so keep following us to see what we are up to. Do you want more details about the Appeal and what it involves? You can contact us on 017687 72255, or you can download a 2-page Executive Summary of the Appeal document, a slightly longer Case for Support document which will give you more details, or our full, in-depth 26-page Project Justification. You can donate directly to the Appeal now via our secure web-site by clicking

As usual, we are pioneering our way into the future. The Lake District has been designated the Adventure Capital of the UK - we want to make sure that it is Accessible Adventure Capital of the UK! Please support us!!
