Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

Design company take on Three Peaks for Calvert Trust Kielder

Newcastle design consultant Andy Ditchburn is taking the Big Society idea to new heights this summer by scaling the UK’s highest mountains in the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Calvert Trust Kielder.

Andy, Creative Director of Perro, a design and marketing consultancy based in Newcastle City Centre, has already donated time and expertise to help boost the profile of Calvert Trust Kielder after visiting the outdoor activity centre on the shores of Kielder Water where severely disabled children and adults can take part in adventure sports like sailing, abseiling and rock climbing.

Andy said: “I knew somebody at university who had a disabled child. I realised then how hard and stressful it was and how much sacrifice was needed to support a disabled family member. When I first visited the centre, I saw how Calvert Trust Kielder makes a huge difference not only to disabled people, but also to their families.  I immediately wanted to offer as much help as I could.”

Perro Three Peaks ChallengePerro, which specialises in brand and identity has provided over £6,000 worth of support over the last two years, working on several projects including brand guidelines, newsletters and promotional material.

Linda Squire, Development Manager of Calvert Trust Kielder said: “The design and marketing support we have received from Perro has been invaluable in helping us to develop our profile, raise vital funds and increase awareness of the work of the Trust. Our thanks and appreciation go to Andy and his team for their generosity and continued enthusiasm for Calvert Trust Kielder.

Perro team is now creating a brand identity for The Calvert Ball, which will take place at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Friday 2 September 2011.  Meanwhile Andy is training hard for the 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge which takes place in August.
