Hundreds of guests and dedicated supporters of the charity attended the annual Calvert Ball, with this year's theme ‘under dark skies’, ensuring it really was a starry, starry night.

As well as dinner, live music and dancing, Kielder Observatory experts were on hand to provide an out-of-this-world experience, manning a five-metre digital mobile planetarium cinema dome, giving guests the chance to observe a simulation of the night sky above Gateshead without light pollution - a real 'under dark skies' experience.
