Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

A fab-EWE-lous night for our Go Herdwick project at the Cumbria Life Culture Awards

The Lake District Calvert Trust's 'Go Herdwick' fundraising project is delighted and proud to have won The Judge's Special Award for Outstanding Achieved at the 2017 Cumbria Life Culture Awards.

The judges noted that the public art trail was "a brilliant artistic collaboration and community arts project" and "it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2016 in Cumbria, and it brilliantly captured the imagination of residents and tourists".

The Go Herdwick project worked with 98 local sponsors and 78 local artists to create a trail of 108 ewes and lambs, scattered  across 150 square miles of Cumbrian towns and countryside.

After being viewed by over 45,000 people, these ewe-nique pieces of artwork were sold at a gala auction in October 2016 and raised a phenomenal £250,000. The Go Herdwick project and the funds it raised are the first step towards completing a £2million redevelopment of our 450 year old Tithe Barn in Keswick into a purpose built rehabilitation centre for people with acquired brain injuries.

Once again we would like to say a special thank you to everyone who has played their part in making the Go Herdwick Project such a success - we have been truly overwhelmed by your generosity.
