Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

SWIM IT for Calvert Trust Kielder

Janet & Colin Fay

Keen supporters from around the North East braved the cold and choppy waters of Lake Windermere in the British Gas Great North Swim to raise much needed funds for Calvert Trust Kielder.

The Great North Swim is a one mile open water swim which took place in June.  Some of those taking part for Calvert Trust Kielder included Janet Fay from Coversure Insurance Services and her husband Colin, Peter Paterson from A & P Joiners and Builders, Calvert Trust Kielder staff Katie Halls and Marion Guy and Russell Purchon a Chiropractor from Hexham Family Chiropractic.

Everyone who took part completed the grueling challenge and had a fantastic day.

“It’s great to support a local charity that does such good work and when a friend of mine mentioned he could get me a place to swim for Calvert Trust Kielder I jumped at the chance.”

“The first half was tougher as we swam out into the lake as there was more chop but the swim back was much easier, which was a relief!”

“I managed to raise £690, £140 from friends and family and £550 from clients at the Chiropractic clinic.  Hexham Family Chiropractic is on Hallgate in Hexham, Northumberland. It’s a busy, well established clinic which helps people relieve aches and pains, improve their postures and increase their overall health.”

“I was really surprised by the generosity of people, a lot of people knew the charity and said it was a great cause.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our swimmers who took part in this years challenge.  The total raised will be announced once all the funds have come in.
