The Lord Lieutenant is the Queen's representative in Devon, responsible for linking the Monarchy to the county, celebrating the achievements of the people of Devon and their service to others, and helping to promote Devon communities, culture, services, heritage, business and charitable success.

Mr Fursdon had a full tour of Calvert Trust Exmoor's facilities, meeting guests and watching them take part in adventurous activities, and meeting staff and volunteers.

Mr Fursdon said there had been two reasons for the trip today: “Firstly to understand more about North Devon and the life up here, as part of my responsibility for all the people in Devon,” he said. “Secondly, I wanted to engage with volunteers and to thank the people that make communities work. It’s absolutely fantastic; the work done by the people I have met is quite phenomenal.”

Heidi Watson, CEO of Calvert Trust Exmoor added "We are absolutely delighted to have David and Catriona here with us today, it's been great to be able to introduce them to some of our amazing volunteers and explain the impact of the work we do here at Calvert Trust Exmoor. We would like to thank The Lord Lieutenant for taking the time to visit us."
