Bursary Assistance

Thanks to donations from various generous benefactors, Calvert Trust Exmoor is sometimes able to offer financial assistance towards the cost of a booking for those in financial hardship, please ask us for a Bursary application form at the time of booking.

To secure a late availability break a deposit of a minimum of 25% must be paid on a debit or credit card at the point of booking.

Travelling to us by Train

We are happy to arrange collection and drop off for our guests with a local, accessible, taxi firm from either Barnstaple or Tiverton Parkway stations. Please arrange this service at the time of making your booking.


Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is for our guests’ to use as a leisure activity and may not always be available.


The pool is not directly supervised by our staff and guests’ are therefore responsible for their own safety. We require a minimum of three capable people in the pool at any one time, who are all able to raise the alarm in an emergency. Children must be accompanied by an adult.


Calvert Trust Exmoor cannot be held responsible for accidents in the pool.


Assistance dogs are welcome, but please inform us when you book that you will be bringing an assistance dog with you. We regret that no other pets are allowed. 


Assistance dogs are unable to attend horse riding, bike or water based activities, but can stay in the bedroom or our outside kennel.


We will always try to include everyone on all activities but occasionally this is not always possible.


Non participating guests or visitors are unable to attend or spectate activity sessions. Children aged two and under are free as they will not be able to participate in any activities. These children will need to be supervised by a responsible adult as we cannot provide a babysitting service.


We are sorry but if you are over 16 stone you will not be able to ride a horse, and you may not be able to take part in rope based activities. (This will be assessed on a case by case basis on arrival).


We are sorry but if you are over 18 stone you will not be able to take part in horse riding or rope based activities.


Please note our hoists have a 22 stone limit.


We do not accept bookings from convicted child sex offenders or anyone on the sex offenders register.


Stables activities are not available at weekends (except for our special Horse Experience Weekends). Private lessons may be able to be booked in conjunction with a weekend break, please ask about availability.


Guests are asked not arrive before 4pm. Unfortunately evening meals are not available after 7:30pm. If you anticipate arriving after 7:30pm please contact us in advance of your arrival date to make alternative arrangements.


Calvert Trust Exmoor is a smoke free site; smoking, including all forms of electronic and vapour smoking (E-Cigarettes), is not permitted anywhere on site apart from in the designated smoking area.


Between 07:30 am and 11 pm the designated smoking area is in the shelter in the lower car park, overlooking the reservoir.


Between 11pm and 07.30 am (when the centre is locked for the night) the designated smoking area is in the courtyard, using the ashtray on the wall between the High Needs Wet Room and the Wheelchair Charging Room.
