Thanks to your continued generosity you have made it possible for hundreds of disabled children to benefit from a family adventure holiday in the Northumberland countryside.

For Megan and her family discovering Calvert Trust Kielder has been a revelation

“We had no idea what to expect and made our first trip to Calvert Trust Kielder with a degree of trepidation. We spoke about what we would do - I would do something with Megan our disabled daughter one day and my husband would do something with the boys, then we would swap – how wrong we were!

Megan and Family on Holiday at Calvert Trust Kielder

From the moment we arrived to the warmest of welcomes, a new, exciting, and at times scary, world of opportunity opened up to us. As the boys got excited about sailing, climbing, kayaking, orienteering and archery, we asked quietly “What can Megan do”? The simplest of replies “She can do whatever she likes, with the right equipment, support and people she can do it all!”

And so began a week of adventure and challenges, achieving what we thought would be unachievable for our little girl, and even better, doing it together as a family.

This is a fantastic place, providing excellent accommodation and facilities for families touched by disability. The amazing Calvert Trust Kielder  team allow us to spend quality time together, meet wonderful likeminded families, and encourage Megan to reach for the stars. For us this was the true meaning of an all-inclusive holiday, in the most beautiful surroundings, with wonderful people.

With the support of Charlie House, who organised and part funded our trip, we have been fortunate enough to visit Calvert Trust Kielder 3 times. We all love it!

Can you imagine how it feels to be told day after day ‘your son can’t do this’ or ‘your daughter won’t be able to do that’; and then the joy of finding a place where you hear ‘of course he can do this’ and we’ll help her to do that’; that was the experience of Megan and her family.

Will you make a donation of £30 to make sure that even more children can take part in activities they never thought possible; squeal with delight on the giant King Swing; sail across Kielder Water or make it to the top of the climbing wall just like Megan.

The difference a Calvert Trust Kielder experience can have on a child is amazing. Taking part and overcoming challenging activities is such a boost to both self-confidence and self-esteem, and can often provide a child with a life-changing moment, not to mention fantastic memories for all the family.

We are so lucky to have supporters like you and we couldn’t help as many children as we do without you. Please help us again if you can. We know times are tough, but your generosity really will make a huge difference to the lives of disabled children like Megan.

Your £30 donation will give someone…

  • pride in conquering new challenges
