How to get to The Lake District Calvert Trust

Our main Centre is located in the northern part of the Lake District National Park, four miles outside of Keswick.

 

The accommodation is in a converted farmstead, built in traditional Cumbrian style, and set in two acres of ground at the foot of Skiddaw (3053ft/931m) and on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake

  • Exit the M6 at Junction 40.
  • Take the A66 towards Keswick.
  • Continue 16.7 miles to the roundabout, bypassing Keswick.
  • Turn right onto the A591 towards Carlisle.
  • Continue 3 miles, the Calvert Trust is on the right (please approach and enter the site with caution as the small country roads may be busy ).

Based at Old Windebrowe, once the home of William Wordsworth on the outskirts of Keswick, our self catering cottages are part of a characterful listed barn and stables complex.

  • Exit the M6 at Junction 40.
  • Take the A66 towards Keswick.
  • Continue 16.7 miles to the roundabout, bypassing Keswick.
  • Turn left toward Keswick on the A5271, Crosthwaite Road.
  • Continue 0.1 miles and take the first left, Brundholme Road.
  • Continue 0.4 miles, then turn signposted Windebrowe / Bundholme.
  • Continue 0.5 miles where you will find the Lake District Calvert Trust Self Catering and Stables Complex on the right.

By Public Transport

 

By Rail:


Penrith is the nearest railway station to Keswick, which is on the main London to Glasgow west coast line.  Penrith is a 20 minute taxi journey or a service bus can be picked up from outside the railway station to Keswick bus station. For some of our courses we may be able to arrange a pick up between 2pm and 5pm,  from Penrith station (£42.50 each way) or Keswick bus station (free) please call our Bookings team to arrange 01768 771924. 


By Bus:


Regular services run between Penrith and Keswick, the nearest town to the Centre. For more information on public transport, visit traveline or call 0871 200 22 33, and dial 874 for Cumbria.

 

By Taxi:
