Challenging Disability Through
Outdoor Adventure

Mayfield School, January 2012

"Everything I thought I couldn't do, I achieved with the assistance of the Instructors"

(C4 Complete Tetraplegic) Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, July 2011

 "The disabled facilities are outstanding."

Hebdon Green, July 2011

As an organisation we prioritise the chance to bring young people to The Calvert Trust every year.  What you offer is an excellent, unique and individualised service and the young people always gain from being here. Every aspect was worthwhile - the residential opportuntity developed autonomy in the young people and greater family pride in their achievement.  We loved the new pool!"

Rainbow House, June 2011

(LDCT gave) "the opportunity to take part in activities they couldn't do at home.  A team of very supportive & well trained staff and instructors who don't see any barriers for our children and have given them fantastic experiences and opportunities.  We've had a fantastic time"

Hilltop School, June 2011

Many of our pupils are not used to walks in the country, let alone hill walking.  A couple of pupils noted how far away and small things looked.  One of our boys is in a wheelchair and so going on a hill walk is not an everyday occurence!  He thoroughly enjoyed driving his w/c back down the hill path; keeping up with his peers.  He also revelled in the big swing in the games barn.  He kept calling to "go higher".  It was an emotional moment to see him experience the gravity pull as he was released.

Milton School, April 2011

A brilliant centre, would recommend.  Centre offered a wide range of activities that matched student' ability.  Then enhanced our students' self-esteem/worth, emotional well-being as well as developing interpersonal skills, team leadership.  Excellent residential.  Hopefully see you next year.

SEELB, April 2011

One of our wheel chair clients was able to support herself whilst in the swimming pool using the equipment available, something she has never been able to do before, not only did this make us proud but to see the look of accomplishment on the individual's face was heart warming.

Buzz Youth Group, March 2011

After our last visit one of our blind autistic children, on the Monday morning afterwards was asked to write about her visit.  Normally on Mondays after a 3-4 hr journey by taxi she might write a sentence or two on her braille machine.  On this day she wrote 2 full pages and it took her 40 minutes!

St Vincents, March 2011

I recently visited Keswick with my college Ryburn Valley.  On behalf of all of my friends at Ryburn I would like to say that it has been a once in a lifetime opportunity and I enjoyed every second of it.  You made my week truly unforgettable.  Thank you all SO SO much.

Ryburn Valley, March 2011
