For Teachers and Group Leaders

 

10th- 12th and 17th - 19th November 2017

 

Are you an SEN teacher, a SENCO or a Disability Group Leader and want to see how a Calvert Trust outdoor activity break could work for your organisation? 

 

Then join us for a FREE* multi-activity introductory weekend and experience first hand how our residential courses offer life-changing experiences for those with physical, learning and sensory disabilities.

 

Our Introductory Weekend Course is designed especially for teachers and group leaders to offer an insight into how a multi-activity break would work for your group.

 

You'll have the opportunity to try out some adapted activities, taste excellent home-cooked food and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in our adapted accommodation with hydrotherapy water centre.

 

The Introductory Weekend also offers an opportunity to discuss your concerns and requirements with our expert staff and time to network and socialise with colleagues from around the country in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

Sample Programme

Friday

 

  • Arrival time for the Introductory Weekend is typically between 7-8pm when there is an opportunity to meet our expert staff and make introductions to colleagues.
  • Next up, time to enjoy a wonderful, home-cooked, hot buffet meal. Don't worry, we won't let you go hungry!
  • Finally, a brief introduction from our expert staff, followed by time to socialise and network in our games room with tuck shop and bar facilities open.
  • Make sure you get plenty of rest tonight as you'll need lots of energy for activities tomorrow...

Saturday

 

  • Following a hearty breakfast, it's time to discover a range of activities such as climbing, canoeing, and sailing. You'll be able to see how our expert staff use specialist equipment to ensure a full range of activities are available to candidates with the most profound disabilities. Of course, it's a lot of fun too!
  • Lunch breaks the day and gives you an opportunity to re-energise before its itime to try your hand at some more great outdoor activities.
  • After a full day of activities you can relax and enjoy a tasty three course evening meal in our dining room.
  • Tonight gives an opportunity to discuss your experience with our team and ask any questions that have not yet been answered.
  • Finally, a relaxing evening in the bar with access to our state-of-the-art water centre, with sensory features, jacuzzi and sauna!

Sunday

 

  • Sunday morning offers an opportunity to try your hand at some more outdoor activities, such as a visit to our stables, orienteering and hillwalking.
  • Lunch is usually at 1pm followed by a pleanary discussion to round off the weekend.
  • Departures are from 2pm to give you adequate time to travel and unwind after your action-packed weekend.

 

 How do I get involved?

Our Introductory weekend is designed to offer schools and organisations who are new to the Calvert Trust the opportunity to gain insight into how our courses operate. To be eligible to attend you must represent an organisation that has not previously visited the Lake District Calvert Trust, hasn't attended in the last 3 years, or you are a new potential group leader who hasn't personally been to Calvert Trust before.

 

  • Simply contact our bookings team to reserve your place on our introductory weekend. You can telephone 017687 72255 or email bookings@lakedistrict.calvert-trust.org.uk.
  • An organisation qualifies for a maximum of 2 places on the Introductory Weekend for FREE, further places are available at additional cost.
  • We will ask if you meet our eligibility criteria and to return a bookings form and deposit
  • As our Introductory Weekend is very popular we request a refundable deposit of £50 per person. This deposit will be returned immediately after participation in the introductory programme (terms and conditions apply).
