New Year, New Partnerships

The Lake District Calvert Trust are delighted to announce that Lakeland Radio will be working with the Trust for 2013.

Lakeland Radio have chosen the Lake District Calvert Trust as their chairty of the year and will be looking forward to a fun packed year of fundraising events.

Lynn Healey Business Manager said, " We are all very excited about working with Lakeland Radio and it is a great opportuinity to raise our public awareness through the radio whilst working with the team and their listeners on a programme of interesting events in 2013."

The team at Lakeland Radio and their listeners will be supporting the Calvert Trust in raising money to establish a fully wheelchair accessible environmental trail, zip wire and wheelchair challenge course on site at the Calvert Trust. This will also enable full access for Centre visitors into Dodd Wood.

This fantastic facility will enable individuals with even the most profound disbilities to explore the environment, have new sensory experiences, and take to terrain that they never thought possible.

The environmental trail with bird feeding stations, information boards and small animal habitats will complement the brand new development, the sensory garden and soon to be built outdoor classroom, making the Calvert Trust site a haven of new experiences and learning.

The massive project has an overall cost of £50,000 of which the Trust are seeking the final £25,000 in the coming year. A range of funds have already been receieved from BBC Children in Need and The Sylvia Adams Trust. The Shepley Engineering Ltd apprentice scheme have also supplied a large amount of volunteer support in working on the accessible paths.
