The Lake District Calvert Trust is a residential outdoor centre with 40 years’ experience delivering challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people with disabilities.

On the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, in the heart of the Lake District National Park, our centre offers a warm welcome; accessible accommodation and exciting breaks for schools, groups, families and individuals with their friends and carers.

We are accessible to people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, including those with the most complex needs for which most outdoor centres cannot cater.

Low Wood No Wood Cardboard Boat Race

Build a cardboard boat and sail it on Windermere!

Low Wood Bay Resort Hotel, Windermere

 

The first annual Low Wood No Wood Cardboard Boat Race is on Saturday 18th May in aid of the Lake District Calvert Trust and kindly sponsored by Progression Solicitors.

“There is no more efficient way to convince someone you are crazy than to tell them you are building a cardboard boat.”

Your challenge is to build a cardboard boat and then sail it 100m on Lake Windermere! There are prizes for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, best design, best dressed paddler and the Titanic Award for the most spectacular sinking!

Entry only £20 per boat and your team can be as big as you like but must have a Captain and at least one person in it to sail the 100m race.

If you don't fancy entering a boat it is FREE to spectate and there will be a BBQ and refreshments available on the day.
