Eaglesfield Paddle School Young Entrepreneurs Raise Over £1200

A massive thank you to all of the wonderful Year 5 pupils from Eaglesfield Paddle School who have been thinking up, and leading on, all sorts of inspired fundraising events to raise over £1200 for us here a LDCT.

Eaglesfield Paddle School in Cockermouth ensure children are exposed to the benefits of outdoor education from an early age. Year 5 were so struck by the value of their own fantastic outdoor experiences provided by the school that they expressed a desire to help make it possible for more people with disabilities to experience the same. The children made their feelings known, a vote was cast, and the hard work began.

We were lucky enough to meet the group of young entrepreneurs when they visited the centre last week. A few of the children had already used our swimming facility, but it was great to be able to demonstrate exactly what we get up to here at the centre, and the range of activities residential visitors should expect to experience when they stay with us.

The staff here at LDCT felt truly inspired - not only by the children's fundraising achievements - but by their pure determination to make a difference to other people's lives. We very much look forward to welcoming them here again in the future. Huge thanks again to all involved - the visitors, staff and trustees at the Lake District Calvert Trust really appreciate your efforts: the money raised will have a significant and lasting impact.
