Local Ladies Sue and Zoe: Further Triumph After Epic Marathon Run

Virgin London Marathon runners Zoe Marsh and Sue Plant have smashed their joint fundraising target of £3400! On Friday they presented a cheque to us for £2800 which along with their online giving beat their target.

Local ladies Sue and Zoe, who both work for B-Smart Fitness – a thriving gym based in nearby Keswick – have worked tirelessly to fundraise for the Lake District Calvert Trust by completing the London Marathon in April. To raise the funds they asked for individual sponsorship from friends, families, gym goers, and local businesses as well as organising a number of fundraising events including a ‘Gym 1-year Birthday Celebration’ back in February, which saw people participating in various gym-related challenges at their work place B-Smart Fitness; a coffee morning at Sue’s ‘Eden Green’ Guest House in Keswick; a cake stall at Keswick Saturday market; and a curry evening with live music (post marathon). Proceeds from an ongoing Quiz at the George Hotel in Keswick and various raffles and tombola’s also went a long way to helping Zoe and Sue reach their combined target.

Their employer B-Smart Fitness has been incredibly supportive of the challenge (both with the training part and the fundraising!). They have enabled the pair to hold several fitness-related competitions including an ongoing plank competition for gym goers over the past few months.

We cannot thank Zoe and Sue enough for choosing to raise funds for LDCT, and for doing so in such style, and with so much determination. Thanks too must go to everyone who has helped them along the way achieve this epic challenge – the Keswick community have really come up trumps with their support. Check out their fabulous medals which serve as a great memento of the day and their achievement.
