Lake District Calvert Trust Charity Ball Raises Over £18,000

We were delighted to welcome over 200 guests to our Charity Ball on the 12th September to enjoy a fabulous evening of fine dining, live music and entertainment including inspirational speaker Simon Weston OBE. The evening was a phenomenal success with over £18,000 raised for the Bridging the Gap Fund, a bursary fund which enables visitors to come to the Calvert Trust without finances being a hindering factor.

The 2014 venue, the Low Wood Bay Hotel, is located in a beautiful setting overlooking the splendour of Lake Windermere. Guests enjoyed a delicious four-course meal and a delightful evening of entertainment. Live music from harpist Anna Howard and Cumbrian band Buffalo Party, the Charity Auctions and Casino all proved popular with the guests. Local Auctioneer Colin Tomlinson ran a lively Charity Auction with fabulous prizes including a 14 night holiday in Cyprus and a delightful sculpture by Michelle Castles.

The audience was captivated by the speaker Simon Weston OBE, renowned Falkland’s Veteran. Simon's irrepressible humour and engaging personality, made him an inspiring and moving speaker. His message was one of achievement, of triumph over adversity, seizing the moment and succeeding.

The fabulous boost to the Bridging the Gap fund would not have been possible without our many supporters who joined us on the evening, Simon Weston OBE, the event sponsors & the generous donations of prizes, all of which helped to make the event such a success. The Lake District Calvert Trust would like to thank everyone for their support including the following Sponsors for their generous support with this event: Brabners, Carr’s Milling Plc., Holker Group, The Scott Partnership, Low Wood Bay Hotel and Print Graphic.
