The Lake District Calvert Trust is a residential outdoor centre with 40 years’ experience delivering challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people with disabilities.

On the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, in the heart of the Lake District National Park, our centre offers a warm welcome; accessible accommodation and exciting breaks for schools, groups, families and individuals with their friends and carers.

We are accessible to people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, including those with the most complex needs for which most outdoor centres cannot cater.

If you haven’t been before or just not visited in a while, come and see what’s new...start planning your next activity break at the Lake District Calvert Trust!

Lake District Calvert Trust Adopt a Pony Scheme

We receive fabulous support for our stables through our Adopt a Pony Scheme which is just one of the many ways people can help us with the work we do here at the Lake District Calvert Trust.

Some of our recent adoptions include:

The Grisdale Family - Silver Adoption of Uncle Silas: Joan Grisdale was given a Silver Adoption as a Christmas Gift from her family including 8 grandchildren, a truly thoughtful gift, especially as Joan has asked that it be in memory of her late husband Rob for whom the family previously donated a Pony Trap.

Frankie Cranfield's Studio - Gold Sponsorship of Bailey: As well as the Gold sponsorship for this current year, Frankie Cranfield's Studio has offered to donate 10% of all art sale's towards future sponsorship with plans to keep Bailey in oats and hay for, hopefully, many years to come! As a regular volunteer Frankie appreciates the benefits the sponsorship brings to the stables.

A huge thanks to both the Grisdale family and Frankie Cranfield's Studio, as well as our other current Gold Sponsors:

The Robert Luff Foundation for sponsoring Fudge

St Bega's Charitable Trust for sponsoring Haggis

Friends of the Calvert Trust for sponsoring Mischief

And an anonymous sponsor of Prince

We would like to extend thanks to everyone who has sponsored one of our beloved ponies - be it a Bronze, Silver or Gold sponsorship - we are extremely grateful for the support shown to our team of four-legged friends.

We would love to have a Gold sponsor for Uncle Silas (see picture below), as well as some of our other ponies:

There are three levels of adoption: Bronze - £12 a year; Silver - £450 a year; and Gold - £1000 a year.

If you think you could support our stables through our Adopt a Pony scheme by giving an Adoption Certificate as a gift or supporting the scheme through your community group or business please get in touch.
