Charity Ball raises over £24,000!

We are delighted to announce our Charity Ball was a tremendous success raising over £24,000 for the Bridging the Gap Fund. The event took place on Friday 11th September at the Low Wood Bay Hotel overlooking Lake Windermere where 150 guests enjoyed a fabulous evening of fine dining, live music and entertainment including an incredibly moving speech from James Rebanks the popular ‘Herdy Shepherd’ and best-selling author.

James Rebanks introduced the Go Herdwick Art Trail touching everyone’s hearts with his humorous and thought provoking insights about the valuable work of the Trust. Local Auctioneer Colin Tomlinson encouraged guests to bid generously on the fantastic prizes on offer during the lively Charity Auction which included a Guided Walk with Sir Chris Bonington, and holidays in Venice, France and the Isle of Wight. The Silent Auction, Casino and live music from The Smooch Band were all well received.

All proceeds of the Charity Ball go towards the ‘Bridging the Gap Fund’ which ensures that people with disabilities, who otherwise would not be able to afford to do so, can experience one of our truly life-changing courses.

The funds raised from the Charity Ball would not have been possible without the support from the event sponsors, those attending the Ball and the generous donations of prizes for the auctions or raffle, all of which helped to make the event such a success. The Lake District Calvert Trust would like to thank everyone for their support including the following Sponsors for their generous support with this event: Brewin Dolphin, Mason Gillibrand Architects, The Scott Partnership, Low Wood Bay Hotel, Print Graphic, Grapevine and Barclays.
