Riding School
The Lake District Calvert Trust Riding Centre is situated on the outskirts of Keswick, at the foot of Latrigg fell.
The riding centre is a BHS-approved riding establishment, and is fully accessible. Instructors are BHS and RDA - qualified, and are able to take people of all abilities for a riding or driving session.
Our Horses
There are currently 10 horses and 1 donkey. See Stables News for details and pictures.
Facilities
- an indoor riding school (equipped with hoist and hydraulic platform)
- an outdoor, all-weather riding arena
- adapted, wheelchair-accessible traps.
Clients
We have a variety of different client groups:
- People on multi-activity courses at the Lake District Calvert Trust main centre, or those staying in our self-catering cottages
- People with disabilities who wish to progress their riding or trap driving skills on specialist riding courses
- Local people with disabilities, community riders and those holidaying in the Lake District (subject to availability)*
- Volunteers at the Riding Centre also have the opportunity to ride at a reduced rate
