Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

Supporting Recovery Through Outdoor Adventure

Together we can move mountains

What is the programme?

We provide holistic rehabilitation through engagement in outdoor adventure. This is delivered by highly skilled outdoor education instructors and occupational therapists.

The course includes activities such as climbing, kayaking, sailing, art therapy, meditation and memory enhancing education. Participants develop holistically and improve their function.

For example they will develop in many areas such as their self-confidence, friendships, cognitive function, motor skills and motivation.

The people who take part in each programme have different abilities, strengths and limitations. Everyone sets their own goals for the week and everyone is carefully reviewed against those goals to demonstrate improvement across a range of measures including:What difference do we make?

  • Motivation to engage
  • Appraisal of ability
  • Expectation of success
  • Ability to make choices
  • Motor skills
  • Communication skills, including social interaction, spontaneity, expressiveness and body language
  • Attention, concentration and memory
  • Speed of processing information
  • Development of support networks
  • Release potential
