"Just a quick Thank You to you for an excellent, informative and well paced day. I've been on an awful lot of training in my time, but yesterday stands out as as one of the good ones! I also know from experience that discussing disability when disabled people are present can be uncomfortable for some, but your approach was excellent in being inclusive and 'no-holds barred'.

Professional Development

and Training

Here at the Lake District Calvert Trust we custom-build our courses to meet the needs of each delegate or organisation.

We have made it our aim to increase delegates awareness, skills and confidence in working with people with disabilities in the outdoors

For more information please see our Professional Training and Support Brochure

Disability Awareness Training (MLTA and BCU accredited)

This course includes a day on terminology, the model of disability and touches on moving and assisting people in the outdoor environment. It then goes on to provide an overview of a number of activities and the adaptations possible to make the activities accessible.

Moving and Assisting People in the Outdoor Environment

The aim of this course is to train delegates in the current best practice in this area. The course covers the approach of the delegates towards people with disabilities, current legislation, the range of available equipment and its use and different techniques for working in water and land-based environments.

At your Centre….

During the year, we offer both of these courses on a residential and day basis at the Lake District Calvert Trust. We can also deliver either of these courses at your centre or business, bringing our adapted equipment with us.

For more information on the courses we run at the centre, or to ask for a quote for our team to come to your centre please contact us at outreach@lakedistrict.calvert-trust.org.uk

"A HUGE thanks for coming down and delivering such high quality disability awareness training in Hampshire once again.

You are fab at bringing in and valuing the suggestions and questions across the groups and then adding to and shaping their thinking to develop them further.

From what I saw the response from all was extremely positive with folks thinking about what it is they can do to continue to break down the barriers and make things happen.

Thanks again, it's been a pleasure working with you all."
