What's on site?
The Lake District Calvert Trust is a traditional Cumbrian farmstead which is fully accessible and still retains the character of its origins. See our site map.
Accommodation
We are now able to cater for up to 60 guests per week. Our new accommodation means we are able to cater for profound and complex disabilities.
We have three areas of accommodation, the Farmhouse, the Lower Byre and the Upper Byre.
Our accommodation includes:
- En-Suite rooms
- Level entry shower room with toilet facilities
- Some rooms are equipped with electric raisable beds
- Bed linen is provided, including waterproof protectors
- Cloakroom area on each corridor for boots and waterproofs

Communal and Social Areas
Water Centre
Our hydrotheropy pool is available each evening for our residential guests; please speak to your group instructor when you arrive to arrange your swim time.
Sensory Room
A great place to relax after a fun active day.
Games Room
The social hub of the centre. After a busy but fun day relax on the comfy sofas or enjoy a game of table tennis, table football, or pool. You can grab a snack at the vending machines or visit the tuck shop for a souvenir. The games room is the venue for our weekly disco and with a large screen and projector we can hold film nights too.
TV Lounge
We have a TV lounge in the Farmhouse for those who can't miss their soaps!
Sports Hall
Our sports hall is full of exciting activites that you can access with your instructor during the day including the climbing wall, trapeze and swing. During the evening you can come here to play games such as basketball, football, badminton, boccia and relay games.
Dining Room
Enjoy delicious home cooked food in the dining room. Start your day with a hot cooked breakfast including cereal, toast and hot drinks. Collect your packed lunch here and return in the evening for a hearty three course meal with choice of salad or soup to start, selection of mains including vegetarian options and tempting desserts. Hot drinks are available all day and there is a fridge to store your own snacks.
Library
We have a small quiet room which can be used for reading or just a chill out space. There is a range of books and magazines to read including some braille and audio books.
Meeting Room
Each morning our instructors will meet here with members of our visiting groups to plan the day's activities. This room can also be used by visiting staff or to put on film/TV nights, please ask on arrival to check availability. The room has audio visual equipment, flip charts etc.
Laundry
We have a laundry and drying room on site for our guests to use. Washing powder is available from the Tuck Shop in the evenings and Reception during the day.
