Freemasons support Calvert Trust Kielder with £25,000

The Freemason’s Grand Charity has donated £25,000 to Calvert Trust Kielder to fund a Respite care Leader for their unique outdoor activity service for severely disabled adults, thereby providing respite for family carers.

The project has been running for over ten years and has proved to be a lifeline for disabled adults and their carers. It is part of the Trusts’ strategy to meet the needs of families whose members have severe and multiple disabilities and who have few alternatives available.  This grant will assist 425 adults and their families.

Speaking about the donation Laura Chapman, Chief Executive said:

Calvert Trust Kielder is a wonderful organisation which supports families, providing assistance for parents and other carers enabling them to get the break they so thoroughly deserve. The Masonic community seeks to fund projects which aim to give practical support to the people who need it most and we are delighted to give this donation.”

Peter Cockerill, CEO of Calvert Trust Kielder, said:

We are very grateful to The Freemasons’ Grand Charity for their generosity and support; this donation will help us immensely with our innovative service for disabled people and their carers.

The Major Grants Scheme is just one of the initiatives driven by The Freemasons’ Grand Charity which supports charities as part of a national major-giving programme.
