UN Enable Logo

Today (December 3rd 2012) is the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The UN describes people with disabilities as “the world’s largest minority”, as there are over 1 billion people worldwide living with some form of disability. This interantional day is all about highlighting barriers to participation faced by people with disabilties, which exclude people from being able to take their full part in all aspects of society.

Barriers range from societal attiudes and discrimination to the physical environment, information and communications technology (ICT), and those resulting from legislation or policy.
