70 Year old with Parkinson’s walks 200 miles in aid of Calvert Trust Exmoor

James Cook, who is 70 and suffers from Parkinson’s disease has today begun a 200 mile walk from Chittlehampton in Devon to Littlehampton on the Sussex coast, in order raise funds for four charities that each have special meaning to James; Calvert Trust Exmoor, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, Parkinson’s UK and Friends of St Hieritha’s Chittlehampton.  James has already received pledges totalling almost £11,000.

James felt it appropriate that ABF The Soldiers’ Charity should be one of their supported charities in memory of a former pupil of his, Edward Drummond-Baxter, who served with The Royal Gurkha Rifles, and was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2012.

James Cook; “The challenge that I have set myself is very modest in comparison with what so many badly wounded soldiers achieve.  Their achievements are not confined to the very public arena of adventurous or physical challenges that they set themselves, but are found even more impressively in their quiet and more private daily determination to get on with life.”
