Family Fun Day helps Gibraltar Team top £1,000

A Family Fun Day at Longsands Beach has Helped Philip Pugh push his fundraising target pass the £1,000 mark.

Rowing the Gibraltar Straits

Philip Pugh has entered into his third year of a five year challenge with another great physical event! After Swimming the Channel in 2014, and cycling Route 66 in 2015  Phil and his Team, this year, kayaked the Gibraltar Straits.

Rowing the Gibraltar StraitsIn June, Phil and his Son Alex successful kayaked the Straits in 9 hours and are the last to be allowed to Kayak the treacherous water. Phil and Alex loved their adventure and were supported the whole time by Kate Speed and a support boat. The team fought hard currents and cargo ships to successfully complete their challenge.

Phil has hosted two events to help with his fundraising for this part of his five year challenge. He hosted a Row-a-thon, on Northumberland Street, Newcastle in May, where anyone could challenge the team for a row off. The second event was this weekend, where Calvert Trust Kielder and Philip hosted a family fun day at Longsands Beach, Tynemouth.

Pure Gym at the Family Fun Day

The day ran from 10am until 2pm, and there was lots going on. Pure Gym attened the event and built an obstacle course in the sand, which was loved by children and adults alike.

Also in attendance were Aloe by Vic, who sells Forever Living Products and Little Phoenix events, who were facepainting and making brilliant balloon characters. With Hook a duck, tomboloa and all the above the day was great fun for all who visited and helped added to Philip's fundraising target.

Snow Team joins Team CalvertThe day even had it's own special visitor from The Snow Queen, who couldn't resist playing Hook a Duck and singing and dancing with all our visitors. Overall the day was great fun and we were not to be beaten by the weather!

Thank you to all those that took part and we can't wait for our next event!
