Challenging Disability Through Outdoor Adventure

Our Biomass Boiler project was completed in March 2015. If you would like to see of photos of the build as it progressed they are in the album 'BioMass Boiler Installation 2015' on our Facebook page.

The boiler burns wood pellets and replaces our previous oil fired heating system, which is still installed in the centre as a back-up. This means that installing the biomass boiler was probably our single most important action in minimising the impact of our activities on the environment; switching from unsustainable fossil fuel to a sustainable, renewable source of energy.

Our Biomass Boiler was made by Fröling, and is rated at 199kW (Kilowatts), which means it has enough energy to heat the centre, and the swimming pool, and provide our hot water too.

The Biomass Boiler can be easily seen from the windows of the Acland Room
